Overview
Universal Scene Description provides scene composition and non-destructive assembly. AOUSD’s Core Specification formalises foundational interchange; the software library has its own release numbering.

Role in the Augmentiverse
It supports durable scene authoring and collaboration. glTF and OpenUSD address different workflow needs, so conversion must account for what each representation preserves.
Where it is useful
- Layered scene assembly
- Collaborative 3D production
Limits and implementation choices
- Core 1.0 is not the version number of the OpenUSD software library.
- Conversion does not automatically preserve every material or scene feature.
