3D Tiles describes hierarchical datasets and content used to stream geospatial scenes. It supports efficient selection of detail for buildings, photogrammetry and other large-scale content.

Role in the Augmentiverse
It can provide geographic context for spatial applications and digital twins. Scene streaming and persistent anchor localisation are different problems.
Where it is useful
- City and infrastructure visualisation
- Large geospatial datasets
Limits and implementation choices
- Content quality and coordinate conventions still require care.
- A proposed later version is not automatically an adopted standard.
